Our Vision & Who We Are
We are a team driven by a shared passion for connecting artificial intelligence with education. We believe that when innovative technology is combined with real educational experience, it can meaningfully improve everyday teaching practice. Our mission is to create powerful yet intuitive tools that support teachers around the world—beginning in the Greek classroom—so they can deliver high-quality education in increasingly diverse learning environments.
The Beginning
Matilda Edu was conceived two years ago by Dimitris T. Maris, an educator, mathematics teacher, and the project's founder. The idea emerged directly from his experience teaching in Greek classrooms. Working daily with students from a wide range of cultural backgrounds and ages, Dimitris encountered firsthand the challenges modern educators face across different teaching contexts.
The Problem
Today's classrooms are multicultural and international. Modern curricula and educational theory make one thing clear: diversity and complexity must be reflected in the learning materials teachers create and use. Educators need practical ways to integrate the unique characteristics of each class into their lessons. However, most teachers lack the time—and often the technical know-how—to create high-quality, tailored materials on a daily basis.
The Solution
With the rise of artificial intelligence, we began experimenting with AI tools to support lesson and material creation. While these tools showed great promise, it quickly became clear that effective use required advanced prompting skills—something most educators don't have the time to learn. This insight shaped our solution: an application designed specifically for teachers, one that removes the technical barrier and genuinely supports their work. Matilda doesn't replace teachers; it empowers them.
Our Aspiration
We imagine a future where every educator can embrace the diversity of their classroom without sacrificing time or pedagogical quality. Our goal is to make advanced educational technology accessible to all teachers, regardless of their technical background. We are building tools that understand the realities of modern classrooms and help educators create personalized, engaging materials that truly meet their students' needs. In this future, teachers can focus on what matters most: inspiring students, building relationships, and supporting learning—while Matilda takes care of the time-consuming aspects of material creation. By bridging pedagogical theory with everyday classroom practice, we aim to support differentiated, culturally responsive teaching in classrooms around the world.
